WELCOME

PORCH-Durham is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, whose mission is to support the Backpack Buddies Program in Durham, North Carolina.

In January of 2011, we began our monthly PORCH-Durham food collections in support of the Backpack Buddies program sponsored by the Interfaith Food Shuttle.  This program provides over 420 backpacks with food for the weekend to those children most in need within five Durham Public Schools as well as the John Avery Boys & Girls Club of Durham.

ABOUT

After hearing about the success of PORCH in Chapel Hill (People Offering Relief for Chapel Hill-Carrboro Homes),  Lesli Garrison, Chasie Harris, and Jen Meldrum, three women in Durham decided to join forces and start PORCH-Durham.

In February 2012, PORCH-Durham received federal tax-exempt status under section 501 (c) 3 and Public Charity Status.
